Hi friends,
Cat’s out of the bag — my new agency is officially live. 🎉
It’s called BrandStack, and I’m building it with my friend Steve Miller, and we couldn’t be more excited to tell you all about it.
But first, some backstory:
I was in denial about wanting to be a solopreneur.
I have always been entrepreneurial. As a teenager I had tons of business ideas, including the idea to do a frozen-yogurt style store that served nachos instead of an ice cream alternative.
(I didn’t say all my ideas were good).
But, looking back, it was obvious I always wanted to build something fun and creative. Bigger than myself. A legacy, if you will.
And then… life hit. I realized a self-serve nacho bar might not pass health codes or be all that appetizing. I got into copywriting (which I loved), but started to see the realities of what running a business actually looks like. And when I tried to build an agency by myself a few years ago… I crashed and burned spectacularly.
When my attempt at an agency failed, I figured I would always be a solopreneur… and then I met Steve.
Steve and I started working together on a few projects as two independent consultants.
It was obvious that we worked well together — and the more I got to know him, the more I realized he shared my vision on branding.
It was one where brand didn’t just look cool… it actually supported a business’ commercial strategy, kept teams aligned, and made every decision easier.
In other words: A great brand makes your unique value obvious, and helps you tell that story to the world.
Several projects later, we decided to join forces. And several more months of coaching, planning, and creating, BrandStack is ready to go.
BrandStack is a best fit for companies who have hit PMF, but are struggling to communicate their unique edge.
We like working with small teams that have a great product, understand what it takes to market it, and need some help untangling all of their ideas about positioning, messaging, and brand.
You might have a brand you really like already in place. We’ll just come in and refine it and set you up to grow.
We do all of this ^ by combining product marketing and copywriting chops with incredible design and creative direction.
The result is something that doesn’t just look good — it’s actually cohesive and helps your business grow.
Plus, we’ll stay on to support with consultancy afterwards if you want help executing on it. In all, we’re a strategy company that can actually execute. And I’m really proud to say that.
BrandStack is still early stage. If you look at our website, there are tons of “Coming Soon” pages. You’re watching is build it in real time, which I think is kind of cool.
But, despite being early stage, we’ve already had the chance to work with some amazing clients who trusted us before we even had a website.
And, our books are open.
So, if you or anybody you know is:
→ Struggling to articulate what gives you that edge
→ Watching your product outgrow your website
→ Feeling adrift in the “sea of same”
We would love to chat about making a difference.
Thanks for being part of this journey.
I genuinely am so glad to have you subscribed to this list. I know your inbox and Substack feed is crowded, and I want to make this one of the most insightful letters you get.
BrandStack is a huge step in that process — and I’ve got some plans for how to adjust this letter to be even more valuable in the coming months.
Keep your eyes peeled. There’s loads coming your way.
Check out this really cool film about quitting sugar for a month. I can guarantee it’s not what you’re expecting. More a piece of art than information.
Your regular dose of nature porn. I’ve decided I’m going to Wyoming next summer.
You might be tired of hearing about em dashes and AI. But, Gill Hill wrote a thoughtful, insightful, and interesting post about their usage. It’s the only perspective on the topic that I think is worth reading.
Have you heard of Pit Viper? I’m kind of obsessed with their brand. And their email sequence post-order is *chef’s kiss* perfect.
Weeeee so exciting!
